Поточний випуск присвячений жінкам-фотографам. У ньому представлено 29 проектів про різні емоційні стани, аспекти та етапи життя жінок. Випуск охоплює цілий ряд жанрів, включаючи документальні, портретні, пейзажні та модні фотографії.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1993 in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine. She works with artbook, photography, installation, graphics. Graduated National Academy of Fine Art and Architecture, Kyiv. In 2019 participated in the Biennale of Ukrainian Art with the project «Taras`s garden» in Ermilov Centre, Kharkiv. In 2019 participated in the exhibition «(Re) Contexts. Stories» with the project «I love you».
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1988 in Bila Tserkva, Ukraine. She works in the field of fine art, documentary and conceptual photography. Graduated from the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University, majoring in Advertising and Public Relations. In 2019, she began her studies of photography and art at Kyiv School Photography, Victor Marushchenko’s School of Photography, and later at MYPH School.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1997 in Chernihiv. She works in the field of fashion photography. Graduated from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, majoring in modern choreography. In 2020 participated in the PHOTO KYIV FAIR 2020.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1992 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. She focuses on the local provincial poetics and her place in it. Graduated from Kharkiv state academy of design and arts, majoring in history of arts. At present she is based in Kyiv and remotely works as a costume designer and stylist for Kharkiv-based theater «Neft».
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1992 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Graduated from the Kharkiv Art Academy of Design and Arts, faculty of History of Arts. Participated in exhibitions in Ukraine, Austria and Italy. In 2016, she started photography, and from that time her main focus is on topics of the illusory world, nature, literary, mythological and cinematic plots, as well as impersonal nudity, childhood memories, and transformation through adulthood.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Вorn in 1986 in Horishni Plavni, Ukraine. In search of herself and her place, she lived for several years in Poland and studied there at the Academy of Photography in Warsaw. Participated in group projects and exhibitions in Ukraine, Poland, Portugal. Over the past three years, she has been working with a self portrait, exploring the issue of the body and self-identity. In her works, she uses the body as a language for telling the world who we are here and now.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Вorn in 1983 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Graduated from the Royal academy of arts in The Hague, The Netherlands, where she studied art photography. As a portrait photographer, she collaborates with theatrical and musical groups, including Guano Apes, Che Orchestra, SHANA, as well as with the Dutch Olympic fencing team, the Rotterdam ballet school, and the Scapino ballet.
Ukrainian artist. Born in 1982 in Lviv. Started working under the pseudonym Kinder Album via Facebook in 2012. Works in genres of painting, graphics, photography, installation, video art and street art. She was nominated for Pinchuk Art Centre Prize 2015 and was the finalist of the MUHi 2017 contest.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1991 in Mykolayiv, Ukraine. Started photography in 2009. Winner of Ukrainian and International competitions, including the «Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award» in 2017. He was shortlisted for the «Krakow Photomonth» in 2013 and «Pinchuk Art Center Prize» in 2015. Participated in «Paris Photo», «Volta Art Fair» in frames of Art Basel in 2018, 2019, «Photo LA», Photo Basel in 2020.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1981 in Ternopil, Ukraine. Graduated from the National Pedagogical University, majoring in art teaching. She also studied at Victor Marushchenko’s School of Photography. Participated in group projects and exhibitions in Ukraine, Turkey, Germany, Denmark. She works with photography as an instrument to examine her own fears, and researches the fear of loneliness in a crowd, in relationships, in a family, and in her own body.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in Donetsk, Ukraine. In 2015 she graduated from Victor Marushchenko’s School of Photography and since then attended numerous lectures and master classes for photographers, art critics, cultural managers and curators. She works with social reporting and conceptual photography, covering such topics as the war-torn Donbass region, immigrants and refugees.
Ukrainian photographer, photojournalist and visual storyteller. She has been focused on documentary photography, projects in social issues, which connected with motherhood, orphan diseases and palliative care. She co-operates with Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe, for making ﬁlms for Deutsche Welle, Foreign Policy, and a number of Ukrainian media outlets and world media like Deutsche Welle, BBC. She reported from of unrecognized territories in Post-Soviet space such as Transnistria, Moldova, Abkhazia and Nagorny Karabakh. For three years she worked in the Russian-annexed Crimea as a photojournalist for the media and on authorial photo projects. Participated in collective and personal exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad.
Ukrainian photographer. Born in a Pirallahi Island (Azerbaijan). During the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, her family emigrated to Ukraine. She defended her thesis on the Bruno Latour's anthropology of the moderns and earned her PhD in 2015. After relocating to live on Trachtemyriv Peninsula she turned to photography. She won the Bird in Flight Prize for achievement in photography Ukrcontempphoto in Emerging photographer nomination in 2019. Her artistic practice is an autoethnography exploring relations between nature and its representations in cultural memory and imagination. She works with imagery through such a genre as a study. The genre of study highlights the specificity of manipulating with a large and medium format cameras, the expressive possibilities and materiality of an analog photographic medium.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in 1996 in Kyiv. She works with photography, audio- and video art. In her photographic documentaries, texts, and audio narratives she research the postcolonial imaginative characters, finding rightful sounding voice, psychology of the character and the body state. Svitlana has studied Architecture at National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. She completed her studies at Marushchenko School of Photography and at Kyiv Academy of Media Arts in the direction of Contemporary Art. She lives and works in Kyiv.
Ukrainian photographer and artist. Born in Chervonohrad, Ukraine. She works with topics of small cities, religion, mythology and identity. Graduated from the Volyn State University, majoring in economics. She started photography in 2011, and took part in several group art exhibitions in Georgia, Germany, France, UK, Poland and Ukraine and personal exhibitions in Dzyga gallery (Lviv), Taxidermia with Periscope group (Lviv), The Naked Room gallery (Kyiv), EEP Berlin, Szara gallery (Katowice, Poland) and Galerie 21 im Künstlerhaus Vorwerkstift.
BOBA Group is a duo, family and artistic couple formed in 2012 by Julia Drozdek (born 1978) and Vasilisa Nezabarom (born 1975). Their main interest is photography, video art and performance. BOBA Group took part in several group art projects and exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad.
Ukrainian photographer. Born in 1998 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Works with the theme of corporality, identity and power relations. Graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Studied modern and conceptual photography with Igor Chekachkov and Roman Pyatkovka at the Chekachkov Photo Academy.
Ukrainian graphic artist. Born in Makariv, Ukraine. Works with photography, graphics, paintings and found objects by exploring the topic of everyday rituals, memory and magical thinking in creating your own visual language. Studied at the National Transport University, attended the art studio of Igor Tsykura at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and master classes of artists Pavel Makov, Oksana Stratiychuk, Vladimir Ivanov-Akhmetov. Participant of group and solo exhibitions in Ukraine and Poland.
Soviet Ukrainian photojournalist. Born in 1917 in Odesa and grew up in Kyiv. Studied at the Ukrainian Institute of Cinematography. During 1958-1971 worked as a photojournalist for the Izvestia newspaper in Soviet Ukraine. In 1964, the German Directory of the History of Photography named her one of the 20 best photojournalists in the world. In 1971 founded and presided over the Institute of Journalistic Skills at the Union of Journalists of Ukraine. Died in 1985. In 2020, was included in the Paris edition of Une histoire mondiale des femmes photographes (A global history of women photographers).
Russian journalist, photojournalist. Born in 1956 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg, Russia). Studied at the Leningrad Institute of Culture, graduated from the School of Photography and the Faculty of Journalism of the Moscow State University. Worked in hotspots during the collapse of the Soviet Union. Worked for the Soviet magazines Ogonek and Moskovsky Novosti, as well as Spiegel, Figaro, the Guardian, the New York Times and other media. One of the few Russian journalists who openly supports the Ukrainian side in Russian war in Eastern Ukraine. Winner of the German Gerd Bucerius Award (2008), Sakharov Prize in 2014 and 2015, winner of the Golden Eye World Press Photo for reporting on the Chernobyl reactor and winner of the Free Press of Eastern Europe.
Ukrainian photographer. Born in 1986 in Stakhanov, Lugansk area, Ukraine (artistic pseudonym of Yulia Polyashchenko). Her practice is merging her previous experience in documentary and staged photography. She interprets cultural and visual codes of typical Ukrainian everyday life, predominantly in the fields of eroticism, fashion, and novel notions of beauty. The artist states that she finds herself constantly inspired by “trivial things, everyday events, stories from lives of friends, and own experience”. Her portfolio lists commissions for local fashion magazines (Vogue, L’Officiel, Harper’s Bazaar), and international art publications such as Dazed & Confused, i-D, Jalouse. She participated in group and solo projects and exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad.
